about

The bottom of the official USDA seal reads, “Agriculture is the foundation of manufacture and commerce.” These words have remained unchanged for nearly 150 years, yet the face of farming, fishing and harvesting has changed dramatically during that time.

What was once heralded as a new era for American farmers and producers has quickly receded into a food system that is neither secure nor sustainable.  The good news is that people are increasingly aware of the value of preserving the integrity of our local food supply and are willing to direct their buying power to local producers.

EFP is committed to developing place-based food systems that support regional growers, harvesters and producers, and provide opportunities for fiscally sound agreements. EFP is working to deliver the type of information producers need to understand the complexities of dealing with schools and other institutions. Our workshops and special outreach efforts provide real- time, practical information that can increase a producer’s market base and secure future relationships.
